  • Every pair of Billiam jeans is cut and sewn by hand by me, Bill Mitchell, the founder of Billiam Jeans, in Greenville, South Carolina. They're made in the USA.

  • The Tailored Slim is made in 1968 13 oz White Oak Cone Mills selvedge denim, and the Straight is also White Oak Cone Mills selvedge: 100% cotton, raw, 13 oz. When Cone Mills' White Oak plant closed in 2017, I bought everything available from its last remaining inventory of denim. The Carpenter is made in Mt. Vernon broken twill, a made-in-USA 100% raw denim.

  • There are three fits. The Tailored Slim is slim and tailored through the leg, with a 7" leg opening. The Straight has a 9" leg opening. The Carpenter is a straight leg with an 8" leg opening and extra pockets for tools like calipers, rulers and pencils. The Tailored Slim and Straight come with a zipper or button fly; the Carpenter is zipper fly only.

  • Ready-made jeans (Tailored Slim, Straight and Carpenter) come in waist sizes 28 through 36, plus 38. Each pair is hemmed to your choice of inseam from 28" to 34", in 1-inch steps.   • The Tailored Slim, Straight and Carpenter are $250 a pair. Custom made-to-measure jeans are $750. The Hand Dyed Wood Grain leather belt is $150.

  • Custom jeans are $750 and made to your measurements, in waist sizes 28 to 40. We meet in person, by appointment, at your home, your office or a neutral spot in the Greenville area. I take your measurements, we talk through how you like your jeans to fit, and you choose a starting point: Tailored Slim, Straight or Carpenter. Then I cut and sew your pair by hand and hem it to the inseam you want. Custom jeans take 4 to 6 weeks and are final sale, with a 14-day window to raise any concerns.   • No. Billiam Jeans doesn't have a retail storefront. You can order jeans online, and custom fittings happen by appointment at your home, your office or a neutral spot in Greenville and the surrounding Upstate.

  • Jeans ordered from the shop have a 4 to 6 week turnaround. Custom made-to-measure jeans also take 4 to 6 weeks.

  • Yes. I ship anywhere in the US. Custom made-to-measure jeans need in-person fittings, so those are for customers in the Greenville area.

  • Ready-made jeans (Tailored Slim, Straight and Carpenter) can be returned within 14 days of delivery if they're unworn and unwashed. After 14 days, sales are final. Custom made-to-measure jeans are final sale, but you have a 14-day window to raise any concerns.
